I think they look great! Good job - I would have never known you just dyed them!
They are so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the peacock idea, but I 'd try it with a regular feather too, I think it would really bring out that blue and be so unique! The white feather could look really stark, but try both and see for yourself! Those shoes should've been created in that color!
You did a great job on those. I am looking for shoe dye, but had not seen any at Michaels, thought I would have to find a place online. Could you tell me what brand it was? Would much rather spend a few dollars on dye then $20. Thanks!
WOW! Those turned out great! and what a great find on those shoes too!
I got the dye at Michaels - it's in the bottom shelves in the aisle where they have the tshirts & like paint/iron on/letters for them. Its that popular brand - Rit Dye. They also have it in the grocery store. It's like 2.99 with Michael's coupon - it's like less than $2. Good Luck!
Those are gorgeous! (I had no idea Nordstrom Last Call closed! Boo!) I'd definitely be interested in seeing photos with the peacock feather upgrade! Great job! :o)
They look good! Be sure to share pics post-peacock feather! (Ha, that was a mouthful!)
Wow! Those are great, and I love your idea to add a peacock feather for some extra pizazz! Great job!
How did you dye these? I need to dye mine, but can't figure out the best way to do it. . . Did you prepare the dye, put it in a bucket and then dunk them? For something soft I'd say use the washing machine but it seems like that might not be the best way to dye shoes.
That's exactly how I did it - simply dunk them into the bucket - I used about half the package for each one & would renew the liquid/dye after I was done with one. Just leave them in for about 1/2 hour or until you get the color you want. I am doing a second coat on them to really cover up every original flaw on the shoe (scuffs, etc) Just be careful if your shoe is bigger than the budget - make sure it doesnt bend your shoe front too much if they are in there that long. Good luck!
Wow, those look great!!!
I disagree with you, I'd consider them perfect, but do think that either a peacock feather or a white feather died light blue would look very nice.
Awesome job!
Wow, these are amazing! I'm having a tough time finding my 'dream' shoe, and at the moment I just have 'well I guess these are good enough' shoes. Perhaps I'll give dying a whirl!
They look perfect to me! That peacock feather would be amazing! What RIT color is that?
Ohh!! they turn out incredible! great job!
They look great and certainly don't look less than perfect, but if you have uneveness, you may want to try using a sponge to apply dye (yes, I was a tye dye geek back in the day). It can give you more control and allow you to put on more even, lighter coats.
@ heather 25 - It's evening blue from RIT.
Thanks ladies for the compliments and tips - hopefully I can get around to the rest of it & post ASAP! Thanks again!
what a wonderful bargain! You certainly lucked out, and they look great on top of that!!!

So to much suprise ( and sadness) I visited my favorite bargain store last week only to realize it was closing its doors in two days. The Nordstrom Last Call Outlet in Miami was seriously a mess but well worth hours of going through clothes to find fabulous finds. Anyways, since they were closing they had all items 75% on top of the ridiculous savings already in place. Seriously, there were Stuart Weisman shoes (originally $200) for $10, but of course none in my size. I did pick up a pair - and brainstormed a bit (since i am doing the blue shoes) I got Enzo's for $5 (originalyl $100) in light silver satin. A short trip to Michaels & bam!!!!!!!!! Got my shoe dye & DIY'd the shoes last night - they arent perfect & I am going to give it one more dunk in the dye before taking it to a pro. FH thinks they look great & even better is the fact the entire project cost me $7 (surely beats splurging on a $200 pair I had my eyes on)
The color even matches my aisle runner color perfectly! I am also thinking of covering up the side hole & placing a bleached peacock feather (which will be dyed in the same light blue) w/ some crystals at the end to really customize them.
They arent perfect - but what do you think?
