How wonderfully creative! I think they look great and I really don't know why I never thought of that before. I am not very good at doing pictures inside but when I take pictures outside they normally come out good. I might use this idea for family photos. We'll just wander around a park or something and take pictures, lol. We did use the timer on our camera for our photo for our Christmas card a couple of years ago.
If you're near Sacramento, you should check out CapturedByBree! She's AMAZING and I believe she's still portfolio building so you could probably get her for a steal!
Oops ETA, cute pics!!!
You did a great job!! Even the poses look professional! lol
Post some of the goofy ones!!!
They look great! I wanted to get ours professionally done but FI couldn't justify spending the extra $300 so my aunt just took a few shots at her house. I am super jealous of those with the adorable professional shots though.
Those are super cute! I was just going to have my BFF do them as she is a photographer but it was already included in our package. Oh well. I really do like how those turned out though.
We are doing our own. I have a Nikon D300, tripod, wireless remote, light sensor. SO is a graphic designer and often edits for photographers starting out so he has Lightroom, PS, AP, ect. We are going to wait until the spring though. I can't wait! Just keep shooting! You aren't paying anyone per hour! You can get a cheap tripod from Ritz Camera stores. Mine was $150, but you can get them as low as $20
@aubrav &@njm1313: & @kfricke89: Thank you!!!
@Miss Tattoo: Good luck & have fun!!!
These are cute, you did a great job! Post some goofy ones, please :)
we ended up doing something similar. we got a free session from a photographer trying to start his business and build a portfolio, and they were a hot mess. so fi's brother brought his nikon and took them for us instead :)

Ok bees on a budget. FI and I just did a self engagement photo shoot. It would have been easier if we had a tripod, but we didn't and it worked out fine. I have a pretty nice (IMO) digital camera: Canon SX129 IS, and we just used some of the manual settings and timer. Then I just uploaded them and did some basic editing in I-photo.
Do they look as good as a pro...mmm probably not. Do they still look cute and nice? yeah I'd say so. The best part was that FI and I had a BLAST doing them. We did some goofy ones and some romantic ones...even long armed shots! It was great!
So my advice: get creative and have fun!
Here are my two favs.
