what about including a large sticker on the back of the envelopes that is partially attached so that just have to peel off the rest to seal the envelope?
you could use double sided tape tabs....I think they come in strips and often have one side left with backing so that you can adhere one and pull away the backing
Paper Source has double-sided tape. http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Super-Tacky-Tape-45;-6yds-45;-1-8/2903.016/425676.html, which is also available on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Therm-Web-Double-Sided-Super-Tape/dp/B0018N6KOI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1243952745&sr=8-4
The Lick and Stick sounds like a better alternative. I would only be worried that it would glue too large of a space on the envelope?
I think someone else had mentioned it, but why not a monogramed sticker for the back or something with a logo on the sticker for the back
You could always MAKE your own envelope glue!

I wanted to make my own RSVP envelopes, so I bought the envelope templates from Paper Source. However, I neglected to consider how I would adhere glue to the envelope seal. How can I do this? I can't glue them ahead of time, because the guests have to put their RSVP in the envelope, and then seal them. But what will they seal them with? If it helps, I have chosen the size 4-bar for my envelopes. I recall I once saw a tutorial online about how to do this, but I have been unable to find it.
Thank you!
