so my next project to tackle are the invites…we are making them ourselves (most of our wedding is DIY!) i have found some great paper and supplies on cards & pockets (if anyone has used them before and has any feedback that would be great!)…i’m stuck on the best and most cost effective way of designing and printing…i have a prototype designed in microsoft word but i am not 100% in love with it (there is only so much you can do on word!)…would love any suggestions of a program or site that is great for designing printable invites, or if anyone has a template they could send me? the colors for the invitations we are looking at is a “harvest” envelope, cream puff paper, and maybe a scarlet invitation mat…but still open to ideas! our theme is a fall/rustic/woodsy look.
i have also read on cards & pockets website that they can print them for you before they mail everything if you email your design, has anyone done this before? if so, how costly was it and did they turn out nice?
thanks everyone in advance for your help!

@MrsElliott: I am doing DIY fall invites as well. I’m actually going to get the supplies to make a mock-up tonight. I’m trying to keep it simple but interesting. My colors are primarily purple and green. I am going with a very thin roll of cork, such as what covers a bulletin board. Ironing it flat, then attaching the invite card to the front. I’m doing the card on ivory paper with ink in mostly green with a purple boarder and our names in purple. I designed it all in Word, and I’m just putting a little fall leaf at the top. I took my inspiration for the response cards and reception cards from what I was seeing in the online shops and just kept it very simple. I’m using ivory envelopes, and I don’t intend on having an inner and outer envelope unless I finish them and am honestly worried about them coming open. My cousin works for the post office and my best friend lives in Maine so I intend to have it all checked out by my cousin and test mailing my friend’s invite so she can tell me how it fared. I intend to put it all together with an ivory lace belly band that is just glue dotted together in the front with the seam covered by a small peice of square paper with our intertwined monogram that I made in paint the other day. Hopefully I will have pics tonight, lol.

We were going to print them ourselves, but once I saw Cards & Pockets, I was sold! They sent us a quote when we ordered samples and it was super reasonable (I think in the $200s for 150 invitations including supplies). So we’re definitely going that route, much more convenient and very affordable.
