I was thinking about DIY flowers for my wedding. Say for example, if I want to make the bouquets and small centerpieces for the reception, how would I keep the flowers fresh? Can I do this 2 nights prior or do I have to do it the night before? I think it would be extremely stressful to do it the day/night before. Has any bride done this on their own? What was your experience like?

I am going to do my own bouquet, however, I am going to use Real Touch flowers. They look and feel real but are made out of silk. That way the bouquet is preserved for life after the wedding is over and is a lot less expensive. I am getting my flowers from http://www.afloral.com/Silk-Wedding-Flowers/Silk-Calla-Lilies/25-Real-Touch-Calla-Lily-Bud-in-White. Hope this helps! If you do real flowers, you would need to do them the day before and have a very large refrigerator and vases so that the flower pedals do not get flattened. Just keep in mind that is a lot for a bride to do only a day before the wedding.

I was going to do this, but am instead hiring a friend(or) of mine who does freelance florals.
Fwiw, fiftyflowers.com has great video tutorials of how to do the bouquets and centerpieces on their site. When I was going to go diy all the way for the reception, that was who I was going to use. Now for almost same cost (maybe a tad more) I’m having somebody else do them!
