I also considered doing this, but found the cost and relief of having someone else do it was worth every penny. Just my thoughts.
Really? Maybe I shouldn't research it then. Thanks for your input.
it also depends on how much you will have to do that day. Honestly - if you are having a small wedding and would have time. I say give it a try.
I am having around 180 guests - and have 6 bridesmaids - family from out of town, hair, make-up, pictures, etc. It was just too much to worry about the day of for me. But your situation could be totally different.
If you want to do this, you will need to order the flowers in advance. Get them delivered/pick them up 2-3 days ahead of time and then you can do the flowers the day before. Honestly, if you pay a florist to do them, they will sit in a fridge for 1-2 days anyway. As long as you keep it simple (the pic looked simple), it should not be too much work. If you had a bridesmaid/friend help, it would go a lot faster. Look for wholesale websites or Costco for bulk flowers. You can really save a lot of money that way! PM me if you need advice, I worked in the industry for years :)
I would also love to do this but haven't figured out the details yet. I'm also near St. Louis.
I know where a costco is in St. Louis. So I could call the Costco and tell them I want ( the picture is orange roses and purple stock) ... and tell them the number of them I need - and they will have them available for me to pick up a couple of days prior to the wedding??
I am having a slightly big wedding (200 people, 6 bms) but I am taking 3 days off prior to the wedding to do this among other last minute details so I think I could do it! My sister and friends would totally help. I am also not having many flowers at all in centerpeices --mostly branchy and pumpkiny -- I will need some for the alter but that shouldnt be too much trouble.
I guess I would need the flowers, ribbon, wire, the green stuff for boutineers and the elastic to go around the corsages? And the pins to keep them in place?
Can I purchase those things at Costco too?
Thanks for the advice ladies!
I did this! It was way easier than you would expect. I got my flowers from a Winn Dixie. Keep an eye out and I'm sure you'll find a place, especially if you're not super specific with what flowers you want. It was at least 1/5 of the price of a florist. I watched a lot of youtube videos on how to make bouquets and did a full test-run before the wedding--which is included in my 1/5 price. It's a lot less scary than people make it out to be.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I am really interested in DIYing my own flowers. Our centerpeices are non-flowery so I really only need 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 bride bouquet, 9 boutineers, and 5 coursages... how hard could it be??
Where would I buy flowers in the St. Louis area to do something like this? How do you know what flowers they will have in stock when you go to the flower shop?
Will I save a ton of money or should i just go ahead and use a florist?!
