I’m getting married in Hawaii! I’m so excited but now I’m about to die once I heard the cost for flowers. Honesty, my flower budget is high for my party of 25 but I still cannot get even the basics from a florist (okay, high in my opinion but I think 2500 per 25 people equals $100 per person which is plenty.) But I’m being quoted arch decorations minimum (and I mean just a single chiffon cloth draping and no flowers) for $600 and BM bouquets starting at $125 and normally $150-175. Oh, and let me just add that a plain old tealight candle is $5-$8 a piece… that is crap. A premium for good service is great but this is just wrong.
And thus I have started to consider DIY and fiftyflowers shipped to Hawaii ($45 extra per box but still less than ^^). Keep in mind I’m just considering since I suck creatively and I’m thinking about putting out some feelers on craigslist for florist labor since I know nothing about flowers. Can you DIY if your flowers are complicated? I want quite a lot and I know with my budget I can order a whole lot of flowers but I have no idea how to put it all together. I know Michaels should have all the vases and everything, but I have no creativity or vision… Can I still DIY? It would also be nice to save money. Should I hire just labor? Can I do that? Has anyone had success hiring labor? Am I crazy?
