I am about to order my DIY flowers for my wedding, and wondered if anyone else had been though this? I hear conflicting answers, the floral sites such as fifty flowers, ect say to have flowers delivered 2 or 3 days in advance so they can rehydrate and open up. From your experience is 3 days better, or do they start looking wilted? Is 2 days enough or not enough?
Talking about peonies specifically..I also read they need 4-5 days from bud form to develop to maximum fluffyness? But the floral sites still say 3. I want them to be fully open and big.
And garden roses 2 days until wedding day…
So confusing…I just want nice open flowers but not to the point of looking old and wilted!
Any of you DIY brides going through this…if you have any answers or thoughts please let me know! 🙂

I would definitely at least 3 days for both, especially the peonies. Make sure you keep the room they are in on the cooler side, and in buckets with plenty of floral food. Don’t overcrowd the buckets either.

Thank you for your help! I want the flowers to be perfect for the wedding day, and thats the stressful thing about DIY flowers, its all about timing and hoping for the best. 🙂

jamidedwards: I DIY-ed my centerpiece arrangements, and I ordered Peonies from Flower Muse and had them delivered three days before the wedding. They came in bud form and then opened up to be big, fluffy, and gorgeous by the wedding. Give Flower Muse a try and contact them if you have any questions, their customer service is the bomb.com. Here’s a pic of my flowers to give you an idea of what they looked like on day three/wedding day:

You can actually order peonies weeks in advance, in bud form, wrap them in paper and put them in the fridge for WEEKS and they won’t open! Take them out of the fridge a few days before you need them and they’ll be perfectly open and fluffy!

Im doing my flowers for my wedding. I will be getting my flowers the day before, storing them in cooler on the way to the reception and then arranging them there to save troubles with transporting. I wouldnt get them 2 days before I think thats not a good idea. I did a test run to see how long they would last….and im very happy with how they will look on the day with me getting them the day before.
I am also using a flower food for the water to help hydrate them.
Wasnt able to upload a photo…..sorry
