Mrs. Lemon etched champagne glasses for christmas gifts and they look fantastic. You can read about it here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/12/23/holiday-gifting-on-a-budget/
And Mrs. Cherry Blossom did etching for votives and favors too.

Thank you, Elle! I am now officially bursting with ideas!
Hi Cyd,
I used Discountmugs.com for shot glasses to double as vases for my lucky bamboo favors. They have the cheapest prices and everything is good quality. Their customer service is also really good! I checked and they have "satin etch" printing available. I liked using them because they will print whatever you want, you just send in your artwork and they do the rest.
Here's the link to their white wine glasses: http://www.discountmugs.com/us/index.php?c=3&style=14. Prices start at $1.29 and will get cheaper with higher quanities.
Good luck!

Does anyone have any experience with glass etching projects? Is it something practical to consider doing on 150 favors? I just had an incredible idea for favors! My FI and I met on a wine tour and I would love to have a personalized wine glass as our favors, but prices are expensive! The cheapest I can find them for online is $7.95/piece which is well beyond my favor budget. I see them on the tables with a beautiful thank-you tag attached to them and I get all excited! I need to find a way to make it feasible. It seems every more fitting because one of our weekend parties is at a winery and the reception will include a lot of great wine.
If you have any suggestions beyond etching them ourselves, please feel free to offer them up! Thanks, everyone!
