I’ve FINALLY finished my DIY invites!!! I’m so relieved, they actually turned out way better than I thought they would. They’re being mailed next week. My colours are pink, silver and bling! It took me about a month to complete them all (around 50 invitations).
I made the templates myself in Photoshop and had them printed at Staples. Which cost me about $40. I borrowed a paper cutter from my parents in law and cut them all out, which was the most time consuming part.
I purchased the pink and silver cardstock at my local Michaels. I should have had the store order in the cardstock for me, it would have been less expensive. I paid about $1 for a 12×12 sheet…I needed ALOT of paper. I made mutliple trips back to the store. I estimate I paid about $100 for all of the paper by the time I was done. It probably would have been half the price had I ordered the cardstock in bulk. Lesson learned!
I purchased the silver glitter cardstock online from Joanns. They had it on sale for around $15 for 25 sheets. I had a coupon for a percentage off, I can’t remember how much + free shipping. I actually bought 2 packages and only used one.
Glue – friggin glue!!!! I first purchased the glue tape from my local Michaels and it wasn’t cheap, I think the first one I got was like $8 for 39ft of tape and then the refills were around $12 for 3 cartridges. I went through all of it within the first hour! I was trying to find alternative adhesive options because I was not going to spend that kind of money on glue! I ended up finding glue tape at Dollarama for $1. I did have to buy a million of them…I think I bought 25 but I got triple the amount than the one’s from Michaels and it adheres just as well! I spent about $40, it could have been less, again, lesson learned.
I also got the pink ribbon at Michaels for around $3 a roll and I think I bought 5 rolls, so about $15.
I ordered my silver metallic envelopes from papercircle.ca. $50 including shipping for 100 envelopes.
So all in all, I spent around $275 for 50 invites. I know this is not the most inexpensive DIY project but I was able to customize everything and got exactly what I wanted. It was much less expensive to DIY them compared to the ones from Etsy I wanted…I think they were around $9 an invite and that would have been with just the invite, 1 details card and a rsvp card – I needed 3 cards + the rsvp card, so it would have been more like $10-$12 an invite if I had ordered them.
Anyway, let me know what you think!
