i had a good friend from Cosmotolegy school do my hair for me, but i did my own make up and i think it turned out really nice. i think if you feel confident in doing it yourself go for it, but if its going to stress you out i would have someone do it for you! best of luck!!
P.S. your picture isn’t showing up 🙂 not sure what it is!

I had mine done… But they were both friends so I didn’t pay anything really :/ My hair was super simple too! It was just half up with flowers put in it(I have SUPER curly hair naturally). I think it can be done, just practice until the day comes 🙂

From the get go, I hired my hair stylist to do my hair (I’ve known her for a very long time and know that when she puts things up, it stays up!) Plus she gave me a great deal, $40 for EVERYTHING.

I orignally was going to o what you are thinking, buying nice quality makeup and then doing it myself. I even went to the mall to get my makeup done and paid close attention to what they used/how they used it. But no matter how much I practiced, I couldn’t get it right. So in the end I hired a makeup artist and I am so glad I did. The makeup stayed great throughout the entire day (no touch up needed) and it looked great! If you are talented with applying makeup then I’d go with that, if not, see if you can re-work your budget to afford a great artist. It was worth it in my eyes.

I wanted to go DIY, but I think it’s going to be less stressful for me to have hair and makeup done professionally. I did my own makeup for our engagement pictures, way heavier than normal, and it barely looks like I’m wearing any. Thankfully my salon offers both hair and makeup and it’s pretty cheap, especially compared to the numbers I’ve seen on here.

I will be doing my own makeup, hair by someone else. I think  a good rule for makeup is if you wear a pretty full face regularly then you should be just fine DIY, if you go natural on a daily basis or something simple like mascara and lipgloss, I think you’d be more comfortable hiring someone.

@MyrellaMayte:  I’ll probably do it myself, but then again we’re not going to do anything fancy or have professional pics done or anything. I might get my hair done, though.

I’d say it’s fine if you keep practicing, don’t try anything too new that you’re unsure of, or may mess up, and try to take some pictures in similar light to where you’ll have your photos done to get an idea how your makeup will look. I think that brides should be the best versions of themselves and not try to look like anything else. So if you’re not a smoky eye girl any time of the year, maybe don’t do that look, etc. You want to be comfortable.

I’m still trying to decide.  My Fiance is in favor of my going the professional route, and offered to pay, he’s so sweet!  But I don’t know yet, haven’t found anyone to do a good enough job for me.  My usual salon girl moved out of state, bummer!  She was great, so now I’m not sure who to go with, so I may end up doing my own.

I’m going to be pulling my hair into a bun and letting my DIY hair flower/fascinator do the leg work on that end of the appeal and handle my own make-up.  I’m a make-up minimalist, I do heavy around the eyes, but never wear foundation or any of that other stuff.  For my wedding it will be the same, eyes, maybe darken my eyebrows, and some nice lipstick, but nothing that overshoots my skills (such as the complicated foundation process – holy crap).

I think it’s certainly very, very feasible DIYing hair and make-up provided you don’t overshoot your skills too far.  I could never, ever do fancy hair like I see in some pictures, so I either wouldn’t go that route (which is my choice here) or hire a professional.

Remember, I think we all look pretty beautiful every day, there’s no reason why you can’t do that yourself for your wedding.

I DIYed my makeup and had my hair done.  I liked my makeup better than I liked my hair!  I did buy high quality stuff and had a lesson at the makeup counter how to apply it.  I liked the way my sister did her eyeshadow, so on the actual day she helped me (It was what I’d had in mind myself).  But it would have been just lovely all by myself.  So long as you know what you’re doing and practice beforehand, you’ll be fine (this applies to both hair and makeup).
