anhelms:  Use face and eye primer for the day of! If you don’t your make up with crease… I suggest going to a Sephora if you have one nearby and checking out some make up that they have. I LOVE make up, more than I like to admit…If you posted a picture, I’m sure alot of bee’s would be able to help with suggestions and tips!

Use a make up setting stray, don’t use anything with spf, or anything that’s glittery.

anhelms:  I did my own hair & makeup for our wedding in Mexico & don’t regret it one bit! My pics are below. I normally use cheap drug-store makeup but I read a ton of reviews and splurged on some basics that really helped my makeup look more pro & stay better than the drugstore stuff I had. I invested in the following:

-a good primer- this one’s tough to recommend one because it’s really dependent on your skin type

-a great foundation (glo minerals sheer tint base)- Usually I only wear concealer and powder…

-HD powder (I got the elf HD powder because I had read a ton of reviews that said it was a cheap dupe for a more expensive mac product)

-a friggin awesome finishing/setting spray I used like 10 times while putting on my makeup the day of . I got Urban Decay De-slick but was going to use the regular urban decay finishing spray or modle in a bottle but after reading reviews I didn’t think they would work well with my skin.

The rest of it- my blush was already Mac- was drugstore regulars for me (eyeliner, shadow, brushes, lipgloss, etc.) and I think it looked great! I did get a beauty blender sponge- those pink things shaped like doggy poop- and loved it so much I use it daily now.

I pinned a ton of hair and makeup tutorials for months before the wedding, and whenever we had plans to go out at night I’d try a different tutorial. i took pictures of them all and then compared which I liked best, and then practiced with the hair and makeup a few more times. Make sure to give yourself alot of time the day of- rushed makeup & hair looks awful! I think I spent about 2-3 hours doing my hair & makeup but I went at a snail’s pace taking my time between food, drinks, & skyping with my family back home.

My hair was twisted on the sides then i braided the rest into a fishtail braid, then rolled that up into a low side bun (even though I practiced it about 3-4 times before it took me longer than usual the day of because I was nervous about getting it perfect)…

anhelms:  Well, I guess I should have said shimmer not glitter.

Here is a quote I found from a tutorial on 13 makeup tips for photography :

When you’re going to be photographed you want to avoid anything that is going to reflect light on your face. The camera flash and the added shimmer will leave you looking like an oil spill and not your beautiful self.

anhelms:  The highlighter may be okay, I’m not sure. I would suggest doing a few trials and using it then take some pictures [with flash] in natural lighting and see what it looks like!

Otherwise, I think you can use shimmer on your lid as well.
