i’m unsure what i want to do with my makeup, particularly my eye makeup. i’ve always loved a bride with a red lip and i do normally wear red and coral lipstick so i am almost positive i want that on my day. i love doing the cat-eye and i think it’s so glamorous, but i’m not sure if it’s too much with the red lip since we’re having a daytime brunch wedding. however, our wedding will be a bit offbeat and vintage-inspired, so it may work.
here is my side chignon (which i’m super proud of!) that i was able to do thanks to clip-in extensions! thoughts?
and here are some options for makeup:
cat-eye with natural pink lip
cat-eye with red lip
rounded eyeliner with red lip
what do you guys think?

@dovelovesfalcon: I love your hair! I prefer the cat-eye with the natural pink lip. It just looks a little more elegant and bridal to me.

Your hair looks great and I love the cat eye look. Maybe instead of red lips you could try a brighter pink than the first one? Only because you said you weren’t sure… I actually love the red lips on you!

thanks guys! i am thinking either coral or pink lip as well!

I actually love the red lips and don’t think it’s too much at all. Keep in mind that 1) People will want to be able to see you from far away and 2) What comes off on camera will look usually look like much less than in real life. Not to mention, your dress will make more dramatic makeup “make sense.”
That said – I DIY’ed makeup and did cat eyes and red lipstick. I’m inserting a photo so you can kind of see how it ended up looking on camera and whether it’s too much for your personal taste. Personally I have dark hair, so I think a pink lip would have looked really washed out in the photos, although I wear pink often a daily basis. (Red, more on occasions and special nights out).

@Mrs.LemonDrop: That look compliments your dress perfectly. Love the red lips and the eyes look gorgeous!

Forgive me for my horrible thoughts.. the third picture.. All I could think of was this.. I don’t know if its your expression.. or what..
Moving on.. I don’t think your makeup looks very bridal.. it looks pretty typical to an average girls makeup, and then you added a red lip [which I also do not like]. I much prefer a nude lip on younger girls [darker lips for older ladies].
If you’re going for a very casual look, or having a 50’s themed wedding, this might be nice.
Your hair is lovely.

@Mrs.LemonDrop: i adore your look!! you have a point about the makeup for the camera.. it just feels like i’m wearing so much!
@MrsRichard: thank you!!! i’m happy to have a hair stylist’s seal of approval!
@jenilynevette: thanks for your input and the compliment on my hair! i’m not really sure how to take the ‘saw’ comment- lol! probably have a weird expression cause i always feel awkward taking selfies.

@dovelovesfalcon: no problem! Side note.. You’re a beautiful girl, definitely no resemblance to the saw guy…

@dovelovesfalcon: It did feel like a lot, and I’m a bit of a makeup fanatic. But I didn’t feel like it ended up clownish.
Also I wanted to add (because I forgot before and I could’t edit my post for some reason) that you also did an AMAZING job with your hair too! Seriously, wow.

I think what you choose is just a matter of opinion, your dress, and the look of your wedding! All of it is lovely! I wish I could do stuff like that myself! It might help you to decide if you take pictures inside with and without flash, and outside with and without flash (depending on lighting! If daytime you obviously probably won’t need flash). That way you can get a really good idea of what everything looks like. After doing this, you’ll likely decide you want to put more make up on than you thought you needed to originally.
My suggestions to start out with would be a bit more brows, and you definitely want to try highlight and contouring! I am pale like you, and I find that contouring especially helps me get definition in my face in photos (not because I don’t have it, but because I’m just so darn pale that I need a bit of contrast for it to show up). Highlight and contour is what makes theatre actors, and red carpet celebrities look amazing under bright lights and flash photography. Here is an AWESOME, and easy to follow tutorial. Ignore the fact that all the examples are really tan people, it works for people like us, too! http://www.maskcara.com/maskcara/2012/11/10/hac-yourself-flawless/

I voted cat eye with red lip because you said you LOVE both. And I don’t think it’s too much for daytime at all. It’s your wedding day — you should do what you love!
