You're right- its not sanitary to fill jars with already-packaged honey or jam. Unless you made the jam and processed the jars, I don't see how you could seal them.
I'd go with honey jars that have been sealed (here's a honey place near my home: http://www.huntershoneyfarm.com/s.nl/sc.2/.f) or the loose leaf tea. I buy loose leaf tea and as long as its in an semi air-tight container, its okay.

Hi All,
I was thinking about using small jars of honey or jam as favors and was thinking about DIY to save money. I found some reasonably priced little glass jars online, but am wondering how I can (in a sanitary way) fill them with honey or jam? If I buy honey and fill each jar, it won't be "sealed" and I'm not sure how to properly do that? Or if that's even necessary? My other idea is to fill each jar with loose leaf tea (I was thinking in that case, sealing is probably not necessary). Does anybody have any experience or advice with this?
Thanks,
Elina
