@mrsedwardslpn:  Hey! I think that is actually pretty easy to do! You need cardstock, coloured scrapbook paper, a hole punch, some ribbon, some free fonts from the internet, and possibly a printer.

What I would recommend is designing your text in word or publisher and then taking that file to Staples…get them to print it. It will be super cheap, $20 or under depending on how many you have. They can also cut the paper for you. Then you just need to cut the scrapbook paper to size, glue it together (you can get tape strips or sticky dots actually, to eliminate glue markings).

Then just hole punch the side, and tie the ribbon.

If you want to make a pocketfold, there is a great DIY tutorial from Ms. Ballet Slippers here on weddingbee: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/09/27/how-to-make-your-own-pocketfold-invitations/#axzz2LeUVDwIi

Hope that helps!

Hey! I’m making my own invitations too. To make something like this, I would get colored cardstock and make it 5×7 size. Then I would design something that is 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches (or just 4×6) and print that on normal copy paper. Then you can use adhesive squares to attach the paper with words to the cardstock matte.  Then go to amazon.com and search “A9 envelope.” The A9 size will fit a 5×7 perfectly.

This will be easy to do 🙂  Like PP said design it in Word or something like that with either the fonts they have or http://www.dafont.com has some great styles for free – it’s where I got mine – then go to Hobby Lobby or Michael’s or something and get the cardstock in the colors you want and a paper cutter (usually around $20).  As far as the size goes, that’s totally up to you, however, I would recommend looking at envelope sizes first to make sure that it fits neatly inside an envelope.  You could also look at getting your cardstock from an Etsy shop, like I did.  I wanted bracket cards and couldn’t find them anywhere until I got on Etsy.  Good luck!  I’m sure they’ll turn out beautifully!

Here’s what mine looked like when I was done:

@mrsedwardslpn:  Looks like you got some good advice from others on size! I DIYed mine and they came out beautifully, but they were a TON of work. Good luck – come back and show us the finished product!

@mrsedwardslpn:  I made mine 5×7 and printed on 8.5×11 paper (here’s a test print page)

I believe the page backed with cardstock was 4.5×6.5
