I am designing and printing my own invitations. There are always so many inserts that go along with them (rsvp cards, maps, hotels, etc.). We are doing email/phone number RSVP and are only doing up a one piece invitation, similar to a shower invitation with all the info on one piece. Has anyone done this without all the inserts? Suggestions/thoughts?

@MrsAMac: We were doing once piece then sending everyone to our website for RSVP and more details. Later I saw the map tutorial on here and there was a vista print coupon so we’ll be adding a map as well just because it looks cool and I have the spare time 🙂

My invitation suite was also pretty minimal, with only the invitation, RSVP postcard (so no additional envelopes), and a small tag with our wedding website attached to the twine that held everything together.
My guests definitely utilized the website, and I got so many compliments from them on not only how personalized it was, but how useful and helpful it was for directions, parking info, finding nearby hotels, etc.
I think minimalistic invitations are awesome because they totally reduce waste AND postage costs, in addition to making things easier on both the bride/groom and wedding guests if everything is done online. So if you can stick with a single-page invitation and direct everyone to a wedding website for the rest of the necessary information, you’ll be set!

I DIYed mine, design and all. They just have the RSVP insert and a directions insert. Not going to lie, it’s intense work, but worth it.

I did what @maraschino did, just the invitation & the response card + a small tag directing them to our wedding website for more information. I’m glad we did it that way, it saved money, it saved trees, and it brought people to our website where they were able to read our story & see our photos as they looked up hotel information, we got a lot of nice comments in our online website guestbook, many from the over 60 crowd.

Hmm, okay. Thanks for the replies. Perhaps the website is a good idea. I’m in a time crunch now so I’m going to have to keep everything simple!

It’s definitely possible do do your RSVP without inserts. Personally, we are including one (map on one side, “about the couple” on the other”). Our RSVPs are going to be online/phone/mail (but no included RSVP card). We will be directing people to our wedding website in several places on the invitation.
