DIY invitations, where do i start?

hi bees! i'm not particularly crafty, but i really want to make my own invitations. i want to get an early start so i can make many mock ups and be 100% happy with my end results. i'm also hoping to start with STDs.

any tips for where to start? i am in canada, does anyone know where i could take a class or something?

I suggest you decide on the style of invite you would like first. There are also plenty of ways to semi-diy your invites such as have a graphic designer design and provide you with the digital format to print you can also send it to an online printer and then embellish it with ribbons crystals embossing stamping boxes and more...

you can look up "wedding invites" on http://www.etsy.com/buy.php and you'll find alot of ideas and options that you can tweak and make your own....or even order some great DIY invites. I made my invites and got inspiration from several on line sources, def agree with crebre80. Good Luck!

Ooh, I think the biggest thing to consider aside from papers and color is fonts! Try dafont.com and fontsquirrel.com for great free fonts you can use for them.

To install a font, you download, then open up your (windows) control panel. Click on fonts, then drag the font file (as long as it's unzipped) to your Fonts window. It will then install (If you have vista, it will ask you to approve. Go ahead and approve).

And don't forget the envelope size! Don't design anything until you know what size envelope you are planning to use and make sure it comes in the color you want. Envelopes come in very specific standards sizes and the interior contents need to be at least 1/4" smaller than the envelope.
