Oooh what a good question.  I’d be interested to know some recommendations as well.

I used Microsoft Publisher. Once I figured out how to use it, it was pretty easy. But I will say, our invitations are pretty simple.

I recently bought The print shop 23 to do my invitations.  I am planning on using the WeddingDNA.com trial membership to download some templates I love and then using the software to make the invitation suite.  I bought the software because it will be useful after wedding.  I haven’t really started to use it yet.  I had a big wedding planning weekend so I am detoxing for a few days.

I know they can be expensive but I love Photoshop and Illustrator, BUT there’s online 90 days of trial that can be really helpfull and just the time you need for those kind of projects.

I’m using Illustrator for our Email save the date and Invites

and I used photoshop for my inspiration board 🙂

Publisher really limits what you can do, and Photoshop isn’t too great for printing text for your invites, but it is great for working with images. InDesign or Illustrator are going to be your best bet, and you can use the free trial as poodle said for any of these 3 programs.

Happy designing!

I did my invitations on Microsoft Word. I tried Publisher but it’s so much harder to control the dimensions with it!! Microsoft allowed me to easily adjust the page! I just had to cut the cardstock to a 5×7, etc, then print! If you’re just doing mostly text, then maybe stamping on the design, I would use Word.

Here’s how my invitations turned out, thanks to Word! 🙂

Hope that helps!!

I am using publisher too.  Its easy to work with and I feel like I will take longer then the adobe free trials allow.
