I would order samples (if possible) and see how they fit together. Good luck!!!
I think it's a very sound idea! You'll probably want to order the invites first and then buy or make pocketfolds to fit them (that way, if you decide you don't want or can't afford the pocketfolds, you already have all of the necessary stuff to invite people to your wedding!). Also, be careful about postage costs, pocketfolds can add a lot of extra weight and therefore lots of extra postage. Good luck, I'm sure they'll turn out great!
Just as an FYI, pockets will probably run you at least $80.00 or so for 100 unless you find a deal. http://www.cardsandpockets.com has some of the cheapest and they give dimensions for various pieces that you can use with their different pocket styles.
I'd recommend going to Etsy.com and putting up an alchemy request for invites, response cards, and directions inserts with the dimensions you need (once you get your pockets) along with your budget. You will likely be able to find someone to work with you!
I am ordering samples and I am using Cards and Pockets. But I am really nervous about making my own. I will say that it has taken a lot of time on a design program trying to decide how I want them to be. I think it will be fine but trial and error before you buy everything in bulk.
There is also some great DIY for your own pocket-folds if you are up to that. Mrs. Daffodil made her own and they turned out amazing.
I hope this helps and good luck!

<div id="post_message_2253">I am thinking about DIY on the invitations since Bride really loves the Fold overs and Pockets but the budget is lean, and I am Printer phobic. Has anyone ever ordered the invitations and response cards printed and then bought the pockets ( from another vendor) and put them together. Is this a sound idea or will it wind up being more trouble then it is worth?
We need 100 invites with response cards and directions for under $200.00.
Thanx in advance for your replies. <!-- / message -->
