I just recently got my invitations done and sent them out. I designed them myself using a software program and had them printed by a local printing services office. I chose this route to save a little money. They turned out looking pretty good but, if I had it to do all over again though, I would not hesitate to just pick a design from a vendor and have it all done for me. I would not recommend DIY invitations unless you are sure you will have all the resources needed to make good looking invitations, i.e. Martha-like skills, tons of time, or experience in graphic design and a fancy software program for design. I am not sure I saved any money. I had to buy everything seperate; the paper, the printing service, the envelopes for both the invites and the rsvp cards, a special fountain pen to address the envelopes, and seals to put on the back of each invite. It was more trouble than it was worth. I am sure some women can do fabulous DIY invites but just be sure to consider all the elements involved before comitting to DIY.
