Personally I mix and match brands…I LOVE bare minerals for basic foundation and blush!  It’s so ligt and doesn’t cake but covers very well…I put on (of all things) cover girl tinted moisturizer first then go with the bare minerals.  After the base and blush I love MAC for my eyes and lips.  It is heavier and stays on nicely if you use a pre base.

I use mutiple makeup brands- MAC eyeshadow, Smashbox, and Makeup Forever HD. I really love MAC eyeshadow, they wear really great and blend really well, and are affordable. Urban Decay, is another brand that I always hear good things about, and I have been wanting to try for quite some time (their Naked Palette especially). You may want to call both places to see what they charge for a trial. I think the MAC counters charge $50.00. Not sure what Sephora charges. Either way you can’t go wrong because both places sell really good products.

I mix and match, but Urban Decay is my favorite brand (you NEED their eyeshadow primer potion, the original version).

My favorites:

Eye primer:  Urban Decay

Eyeshadow:  Urban Decay and Too Faced.  Indie companies Fyrinnae and Shiro Cosmetics are supposed to be excellent, but I haven’t had a chance to try them.

Mascara:  Haven’t found a clear favorite yet

Lipstick: MAC

Lipgloss:  Urban Decay

Lip liner:  I like to use clear lip liner.  Urban Decay makes one, and so does L’Oreal

Brow gel:  Ulta

Finishing powder:  Urban Decay

Concealer:  MAC (mainly because no one else seems to make a shade pale enough for me…though I look forward to trying Amazing Cosmetics concealer, since they seem to have a shade that might work for me)

Foundation, blush, and bronzer:  I don’t wear any of that

Makeup brushes:  MAC, Urban Decay, and EcoTools

Brush cleaner:  MAC

I love smashbox face products (foundation, blush) and MAC eye makeup.

Be sure to use primer…my makeup lasts all day if I use it- both on my face and on my eyes

Here’s everything I used for the Day of…

I found and pretty much followed Miss Rainbows Ace Your Face Pt.1

Only differences are I use Smashbox over MAC (don’t like MAC).. I don’t mix my moisturizer b/c it makes my face oily.. and I use Smashbox Photofinish Concealer b/c well I need it. lol

Also.. check out Youtube tutorials.. They are GREAT to really see how to apply make-up, eye shadow, etc =)

Day to Day and for the Big Day:

I myself wear Smashbox Photofinish Foundation.. great coverage but isn’t heavy (I was a mineral makeup girl so I didn’t want heavy or cakey)

Monistat Chaffing gel for primer (it’s the same as Smashbox primer)

Smashbox Photofinish concealer b/c it’s the best coverage I’ve found for my skin issues

Bare Minerals Foundation Powder for my loose Powder (i like the coverage better than a regular pressed powder)

Also the Smashbox Starter comes with their powder.

Bare Minerals Warmth for my cheeks and bridge of nose

any ol blush for the apples of my cheeks.

MUFE HD Finishing Powder to set my make up (although I have heard the elf makes something similar for MUCH cheaper)

and Smashbox limitless long wear lipgloss

My eyeshadow was an Ulta dou blue & light blue/silver along with another neutral color.

I bought my brushes from Target Studio Tools:

Foundation and Blush

CVS got another brush

Fluffy Powder Brush & slanted eye liner brushe that I actually use for my eyebrows

Here’s a pic for reference… I definitely wanted a more natural look since I HATE cakey make up lol

What I’ve started doing, and I think you should do, is before you go to any makeup counters, start watching youtube videos! (cuz makeup counters WILL try and sell you stuff!) I just spent $32 on a tinted moisturizer at sephora, and after watching a few more videos, I have realized that a $1 tinted moisturizer from e.l.f. will probably suffice, since I will hardly ever wear it! (luckily, I can return it!) Try watching emilynoel83 or MissChievous or MakeUpByTiffanyD (sorry, one of those last two I prefer more than the other, I just can’t remember which!) Anyhow, then once you watch a bunch of videos, they have recommendations of good products and even diy-how-toapply tutorials, so then you can get the product and follow along!

I love MAC products and have used their counter to do my makeup many times.  The do makeup for free during the week days and they ask you to buy $50 worth of product on the weekends.  They are doing my wedding make up and I am going in tues for the trial with the artist, I do usually tell them to take it down a few notches before they start as I am not a young thing going out to a club (I wish I was).  I am in need of a few things from the counter anyway so I am waiting until my wedding day to pick them up.
