I saw Keiko Lynn’s tutorial on understated bridal makeup and thought it was perfect, so I ordered everything and gave it a try. I don’t know if I just did a bad job or if it was too shimmery for flash and she used another type of photography, but it looked terrible! I did a search for other tutorials using the Naked Palette and came up with this second attempt. It turned out much better than my first try, but what do you think? I bought the urban decay super saturated lip color in Lovechild, which goes on pretty bright, but doesn’t photograph that way.
I also had my makeup done earlier this week and wonder if that look (more matte?) is a better way to go. The brows in both need more help, but I think they definitely look odd in the pic below (but they didn’t photograph that way in the pro pic, which I don’t have a copy of yet).
Here are a few pics of each – my DIY is the grey tshirt in artificial and natural light, and the pro makeup is in the pink sweater, in artificial light. All with flash.

I prefer yours over the pro. The colors are too muted, there’s no color in your face and the lipstick is just wrong, BUT i think that you should keep trying. Maybe some more bronzer and blush… fake eyelases? I like the idea of darkening your eyebrows but I do not like the way the pro did it.

@MsSven: I prefer your diy over the pro’s look. The foundation is a tad too light I think, and the brow shade is too warm….most brows look best when filled with a slightly ashy colour, even if it’s way more ashy than your hair colour.
It could be the flash, but either way you look a bit too washed out….I think the Naked palette is lovely but your cheeks and lips need some pops of brighter colour, like rosy pinks.
Keey trying! You’ll find colours that really make your skin and eyes shine!

Yours looks better the eyebrows done by the pro are not the right color for you. Too warm. Try the anastasia brow kit. Its very natural. As for you face I would use more blush if you have any on at all. I cant tell in the photos. Basically if you are going to do your own makeup make it a lot darker than you typically would because photos always wash people out. Go with false eyelashes too!
