I will most likely be DIY my makeup. I’m a bare minerals girl – but looking to glam things up a bit.
The weddingbee pro’s have been helpful but wondering what the hive has used/recs?
Also- i’m a 5-10 min makeup girl. I guess I should budget more like 30 mins on my wedding day?

i didn’t DIY my own makeup but i’ve done makeup for a weddings.
i would use smashbox or mac — those brands are both geared more for photography.
smashbox’s primer is amazing. it takes away any shiny spots on your face and keeps your makeup on.
urban decay’s primer potion is awesome for eye makeup. it keeps it from creasing and makes the color stay true.
seal your makeup with model in a bottle. you spray it on your face and it makes everything budge proof.
keep blotting papers at your wedding site to help with oiliness.

I also did my own makeup and lashes for my wedding. My life savers on the day were Benefit’s She-Laq and Nars blotting papers. She-Laq is a makeup waterproofer by Benefit, it comes with applicators for eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lips. I wore a water-resistant but not proof mascara by Shu Uemura (lash expression mascara – it’s amazing) and used the She-Laq over it – stayed put for 2 days! Also used it after I put on my matte lipstick to seal in the color – really worked, and then I wore gloss over it. I sealed my eyeliner and eyeshadow also. I have oily lids so these always seem to run on me, but they stayed put well into the next day! The Nars blotting papers were amazing for my post ceremony shine. I used MAC shadows, Shu Uemura lashes and lash glue, Nars bronzer, Shu Uemura foundation, Shu Uemura mascara and liquid eyeliner, and the Benefit she-laq to seal it all.

I’m also going to be a DIY bride, largely because of finances, but also because tears pour out of my eyes when anyone gets within five feet of my lashes with a pointy stick (such as a mascara wand). The recommendations are really helpful- I’m like you, meggles, in that my makeup routine takes approx. 5 minutes in the morning. I like to keep things simple but also want to glam it up for my wedding day!
