So many of you know that I’m doing the little envelopes to jazz up our regular guestbook. I will update later on this week on the progress of the guestbook but I thought I would post on how to create the little envelopes.
It’s actually pretty simple, well for me it was so I’m going to try and show you how to make them.
First you need some paper. I used 65lb cardstock paper, I bought it at Michaels when it was on sale.
I also bought the Martha Stewart Scoring board and I already had my cutter at home.
I played around with sizes and decided on my final sizes. For the bigger envelopes, they would be 4.5’ x 4.5’ and for the smaller ones they would be 4’x4’.
So I started, I placed my paper on the scorer board, and using the little flat presser, scored down at 4.5’. I did the same thing for the 4’x4’. Once they were scored, I cute them using the cutter.
So once I had my squares cut out, it’s time to score to make the envelopes.
Using the slanted ruler with the scored board:
I place the big square on the slanted part. I then scored one side at 1.5, then turned the square around and score at 2 then again at 1.5 and lastly at 2.
For the smaller envelopes, I did it at 1.5, 1 ¾, 1.5 and 1 ¾.
Once your envelope is scored, it will look like this:
Fold the on the lines and then using scissors, cut out the little triangle where the fold meets:
Fold in the sides, I trimmed the top part a little bit to be a bit more open at the top.
The fold in the bottom flap:
I cut the tip to make it straight instead of pointy.
Now time to glue it. Using double sided tape, I glued the bottom flap. I asked Fiance to take pictures of this step since I needed both my hands 😀
Then you stick the bottom flap on to the sides and press….
Hopefully these steps will help some ladies make their own envelopes. Thanks for reading 🙂
