Hi ladies!
I've been searching for a pretty hanger for pictures of The Dress, and after failing to find something reasonably priced (i.e.: cheap), I decided to monogram my own, using cheapie Ikea wooden ones in white.
Here's my low-tech way of doing it:
1. Pick your initial(s) / name and your preferred font.
2. Print it out at an appropriate size for your hanger -- I used font size 90 with Freebooter font

3. Shade the back with a soft pencil. Be generous and rub it on well!

4. Position the monogram/name and stick it in place (i used some sticky tape on 2 sides)

5. Use a ball point pen and trace the design, pressing HARD. You should then get a sufficient imprint of the design on your hanger.

6. Use a fine-tip permanent marker and carefully fill in the imprint.
TA-DAAAAAH! pretty hanger for nice dress photos :)
Oh, you can also buy rhinestones and stick them on after getting the imprint, if you like a little bling bling :)
Love this! I had already made a 'hanger cover' but I think I might change my mind and do this instead!
Or do it for my bridesmaids!
Cool! I am doing this for my groom, too! :-) I was going to get wooden letters but this is so much easier!!
my groom picked a different font but insisted on using a thicker Sharpie. he messed it up and shrugged, "At least we bought 8!" :P
I cannot wait to make one of these! (Thinking to self: I wish I had a wodden hanger to try this on right now,)
such a great idea....I was regretting not purchasing a pretty hanger but didn't think I had time to. Thanks for sharing!
This is so cool! If I have some extra time I think I'll do this! Thanks for the tutorial!
you're most welcome, Ms Mascara. i did it in under 10 min, even for a first attempt, so you should give it a shot!
This is the cutest idea in the whole wide world! I am putting this on my to-do list too! My bridesmaids will think its so original and definitely be used again! Thanks!
Genius.
I have already purchased my hangers, but I was planning on painting the monogram. This is much more fool proof than allowing myself access to paint.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this. Because of your post, I've done a couple of hangers too!

Great idea & great job!
I love that pren79 was inspired & posted her version of these hangers!! It's fun to see a DIY tutorial/project come to life :)
Thanks for sharing this!! I was planning on doing this, and your pencil rubbing idea just made it 10 times easier.
I wish I would have done this for my lovely ladies. It looks so simple and super cool!
now i'm tempted to make these as christmas gifts, haha! imagine, a whole set for someone.....
I've had this bookmarked for a really long time and I'm so thrilled that I can now put this DIY tutorial to good use! Thanks again @mrspaetz
i LOVE this idea, i may tweek this idea a bit, im almost certain i will have some extra letters from my "bridesmaids" tshirts
i featured this on my wedding planning blog,
i hope thats ok
tagging this for later... I wanted to do something with the hangers but was afraid I would fail at the wire ones, this looks awesome!
If you do a thicker font you ONLY NEED TO OUTLINE the letter. It's much easier on your hand! lol
I did mine yesterday, I'm sooo pleased how they turned out.
