Very cute :) I just finished doing all my custom coat hangers after trying and giving up on the wire ones too :) I used the same IKEA ones but in white...
Have you thought about adding a little ribbon tied in a bow to the wire? I found it was a good finishing touch on mine :)
Those turned out really cute! I did mine with the wire, don't know how I managed to do them but I'm glad I did lol. I do agree with @ShellVee: with maybe including a bow to finish them. Great job!
I also had these hanger.. I snatched up a bunch when they were $0.99/per 8 pack the day after christmas.. Still sitting waiting for their turn at DIY.. great job. love that you painted them
I was planning on doing the same as the wire thing seems a little tough. Thanks for the Ikea tip, I was searching Home Goods, etc for wooden hangers with no luck!

I really love the personalized wire hangers, but despite a really good tutorial on how to DIY them, I pretty much realized that I have enough on my plate. So I decided to personalize them for my BMs another way.
I started with an 8pack of hangers from Ikea (something like $4), a can of spray paint from Hobby Lobby ($3.50), painter's tape, and a peice of paper to dry the hangers once they were painted.
The instructions said to scuff up glossy surfaces with sandpaper before painting, but I decided to live life on the edge and NOT follow instructions. It seemed to work out fine.
I taped up the wire part of the hangers so it wouldn't get painted purple as well, went outside, calculated for the shifting wind, and started spray painting. I had finished the first hanger when I realized I needed a different drying approach. FI came to the rescue.
The tiny can of spray paint covered 4 hangers, with one ALMOST done - I had used the paint before for another project, and I was applying a lot, so I could have finished 5 hangers with a new can. I'd recommend a larger size for more than 5 hangers. What's pictured above is 4 finished, one almost finished except a tiny bare patch, and one that I started before I realized that #5 wasn't done.
I let the hangers dry for about an hour (they were really done at 30 min but I wanted to be safe), and then busted out my stamps. The ink pad (chalk white, multi-surface ink) was something like $4 at Hobby Lobby. The stamps were $9.99 at JoAnn's, but at 30% off, so about $7.
This ink took FOREVER to dry - I guess the glossy painted surface was a bit much. It took one practice hanger to sort out the spacing for the individual letters, but then I got it. Here's a finished one.
I'm pretty pleased with them, and just have a few more left to do, for our moms and re-doing mine (that was the practice one where the spacing was wonky). So when I have all 6 hangers done, here's the rough breakdown:
Paint: $7
Stamps: $7
Stamp Pad: $4
Hangers: $4
Painter's Tape: We already had it
Drying Rack: We already had it
Total: $22 for 6 hangers.
