Hi. does anyone have experience creating silk pomanders? What's a good size for a bridesmaid, and how many flowers did you use for that size ball? Any good places to order for a deal?

I'm thinking about using them for my bridesmaid, i think it'd be a fun project for them to make their own and be able to carry that down the aisle.

OK, let me give you some advice lol. I just got done creating 2 of these (one for each of my bridesmaids - I only have 2) and first off, they are BEAUTIFUL. I am very proud of how they turned out, since it was my first wedding DIY project. I will say though, that you must be VERY careful with the size of styrofoam ball that you buy. I completely underestimated the size that I thought they would be when they were completed. You see, I bought a styrofoam ball which, to me, did not look that big at all. It was approximately grapefruit size/maybe slightly larger before the flowers. So I went to hobby lobby and bought the flowers (I LOVE their flowers by the way - very nice quality) and luckily they were having a 50% sale on all florals and floral stems. I got what I THOUGHT would be PLENTY of flowers, which ended up being $80.00 worth, but because of the sale I got them for $40.00. Anywho, so I went home and began to make the first ball... That's when I realized I was in slightly over my head lol. You see, once you begin to cut the flowers down and hot glue them to the ball you realize that due to the circumference of the ball, it required a LOT more flowers than it would if it were just a flat surface. I should have known this, but I did not even think about it. Before I knew it, ALL of the flowers were gone and only HALF (YES, I said only HALF) of the ball was covered. I could not believe it. Luckily, when I went back for more flowers they were on sale again LOL. I guess maybe I should  have researched other flower options/websites, etc but I was really happy with the quality at HL.  Long story short, those 2 beautiful little pomanders cost me WAY more than I anticipated and they are HUGE (like, basketball-size, no kidding). Unless you want giant pomanders, opt for the styrofoam ball that is about the size of a tennis ball. Once you get the flowers on it, it will be a good size!  Well, I hope this advice helps you. If you'd like me to tell you how I trimmed/glued the flowers I'd be happy to. It's pretty easy :)
