i made cards. another cute idea was getting then monogrammed compacts and a note that says "mirror mirror on the wall, who'll be my bridesmaid" blah blah blah. sometghing cute
This isn't exactly "DIY" - but what I did for my MOH (my sister) is get a cutesy gift bag in our wedding colors, and bought the movie "Made of Honor". I also put a little card asking in there. She and I had seen the movie in the theater together and I knew she wanted the DVD, so it worked out really well!
I made my Maid of Honor a box of cupcakes and a card that i made with a cute 'will you be my maid of honor' poem, i gave them to her this morning along with a book that i swear helped me obtain my husband to be, called The Rules. She cried when she read the card :-)
I made them some beautiful embroidered shawls they will wear on the wedding day
I made some cards and response cards which explained the tradition of having bridesmaids waay back in the Roman/Greek days. (For protection from evil spirits who might be trying prevent the bride and groom from marrying). I basically asked them if they would be my knights in shining armour type of thing.
They all loved the story and immediately checked yes on the response cards!
I made cards on Snapfish.com & included pics of each bridesmaid w/ me. Then inside, on the left hand side, I included a poem that I wrote(same one for each BM) that ended with "Will you be my bridesmaid?"/"Will you be my Matron of Honor?"... On the right, I typed a personal letter telling them why I'm asking them and bringing up past memories and how great they are & sent it in the mail. They each called crying when they received it, saying how much they loved it! It's a fun/inexpensive & very personal way to ask someone. They all kep theirs in sight at their homes :)

Does anyone have any creative DIY projects for asking the maids to be maids? I want to make them something special but I was hoping that you ladies might be able to post some pictures to help get my creative juices flowing. Thanks.
