Okay, I am trying to make this cake stand but first I need to find out what under the fabric. I want to use silk and lace. I’m thinking it’s wood but not sure if it’s a solid block of wood or a wood box with something inside. My cake will be 4 tiers so it will be heavy.
DIY brides….what do you think!?!

Hmm… I would say a hollow wooden frame and then you can glue or staple down the fabric underneath?

I would say hollow wood or some sort of thick cardboard box. I’m talking REAL thick. Hmm that sounds bad… hah anyway, I’m guessing that it would probably be made out of 2x4s. A wood frame is more practical, sturdy, and easier to put together.
ETA: That’s really cute by the way! I love the subtle detail the lace and roses add. : D

I would do a 4 sided frame with 2x4s then àttach a plywood top- at least one -half inch thick.
Cakes are always heavier than you think – cardboard boxes would not work.
Cover the wood with burlap- staple on the bottom. Add the lace.

Thanks ladies!! If it is a hollow wooden box and then it needs to be a thick box.
