You could use real dirt, with real flowers planted in them (a low flower, like impatiens or merrygolds) so then the candy flowers will be high above. Or just real dirt with moss. Real dirt is better for the environment than styrophome :) And favors can be bags of flower seeds for planting.
what about floral foam? that might be cheaper... not sure. or sand, rice, anything like that... rice is super cheap! as are pinto beans. if it's covered with moss and/or something else, you won't be able to tell. not sure if i'd do real dirt, since it's going to make the handles/sticks all gross, and that is then going to be passed on to the tables... not pretty. :(
You can get floral foam at Walmart, and at some dollar stores, depending where you live.
What about glass marbles or some kind of small candy like jelly beans to anchor the suckers?
You could use sand, beans, or marbles. Any of these you'd be able to get at a hobby store.
Ohh.. thanks for all of the ideas! I was thinking of using dirt, but then the sucker handle would get dirt on it. I don't want to use something as pretty as glass marbles because they won't be seen; however, I think the rice idea would really work.
I may go by the dollar store to see what they have to offer. I don't shop Walmart (personal and political reasons).
So, other than the styrofoam issue -- is it a cute idea or is it too cheesey?
i didnt use seating cards to arrange my wedding. i used seating arrangement's software..free of charge and hassle.

To see pictures of what I am writing about please click here! I’ve been trying to figure out how I want to do the seating cards for the wedding. I know I want designated tables, but not necessarily designated seats. The easy way is to make a small card with each guests name on it and then the name (or number) of their assigned table. But, found these super cute silver pails at Target that match my daisy theme and one of my colors... so I got an idea.
Here is the idea: To make a daisy sucker for each guest and attach a small card to each sucker with the guests name and table name (or number). The pails would hold about 8 of these suckers (arranged in alphabetical order) so guest could find their sucker with their name and table so they would know where to sit
So – What do you think? Any ideas to make this work or look better? The sample picture only has one sucker in it – it took me less than 5 minutes to attach the ribbon and add the Styrofoam and Moss. I used a Zyron Sticker Maker to make the ribbon tacky on one side before attaching it to the pail. Also any ideas on using something other than styrofoam to hold the suckers up? Styrofoam is kind of expensive (at least at Michael's).
