My first thought was text that sorta looks like "Wanted" posters...
Have you checked out SMP and other sites for inspiration?
You could do something with a horseshoe or horses. Have you seen Miss Cowboy Boot's invitation suite. It's stunning.
This is from Wiley Valentine.
Or here is the Wanted Poster idea.
We also had a ranch wedding and used wooden invitations.
cute idea! I know invitations by dawn (I think it was that one) has country themed stuff-I'm not sure if they have STD's-but you could probably get some ideas from there www.invitationsbydawn.com
I love missomally's idea of using wood! Night Owl Paper Goods prints wooden cards and also sells them blank if you want to DIY. Oslo Press does laser engraving on wood, which is stunning but pricey. Bell'occhio sells blank wood veneer tags you can write on with a Sharpie. Or you could use a gorgeous wood grain paper like the one Miss Apple Cider is using!
I also like the idea of a spin on this vintage key save the date - you could use a vintage-looking horeshoe charm, maybe? I think that would look beautiful.
lol, I just posted this one over on the invitation board, but it totally sounds like what youre looking for. its from Moira Design Studio

Im getting married in May, and I am trying to come up with a unique STD... no magnets or postcards... Our wedding is going to be country... Set up outside in a creek bottom on a ranch in eastern Oklahoma...
My colors are peach and almond. This isn't really a "themed" wedding. My FH was raised on a working ranch, and I grew up with horses, it just fits our lifestyle.
Im not looking for anything cheesey or over the top "Cowboy"...
Suggestions?!
