I have debated making my own and bought some stuff to do it.  I cannot afford to buy one and it finally hit me to sneak my moms from her closet and use it.  It needs some work but I will get it fixed.

Yay, thanks for posting this.  I am bookmarking it for when I make my own veil.

this is awesome! thanks for sharing :-)

maybe i'm naive, but i just don't get how some veils can cost HUNDREDS of dollars?! it's a few yards of tull attached to a plastic comb. even with some nice lace around the edges of some veils, i still just don't get it! does anyone else know where i'm coming from? or maybe someone can explain why they can be so expensive?

Yay!!  I'm glad someone can use this!!

@bellamargot: GIRL!!!  That's why I went the DIY route!!  I was not down for paying that much.  I know there's a lot of work that can go into them, but still.

    =)

    Oh, thats a great tutorial!

@bellamargot: some of the fancier veils have layers of very expensive lace handsewn to several layers - the lace is expensive, and that takes a lot of time! Some of them also have very expensive tulle-like material for the whole veil - with a very fine mesh and good draping qualities. Its also a developed skill to sew them on so they look like they're part of the veil without it being obviously handmade. I'm definitely making my own because I don't want to spend that much, but this is some of where they're coming from.
