For those of you who are having or had a DJ at your wedding; did you have the DJ take guest’s requests, or give them guidelines to play by, or other scenerios?
I’m just beginning to DJ selection process and am somewhat concerned by DJs that say "we just take requests from guests all night." Something feels very highschool dance to me about that, and I’d just like the gather your all’s opinions.
Thanks in advance!

we just gave a list of "MUST play" songs and "NO WAY" songs but he’s a DJ at a few nightclubs, so i figured he’ll work with the list of "MUST" songs and mix in some dance faves that arent on our list also.
i think it’s better to have a "NO Way" list for him if there are songs you absolutely will not want to hear
Most DJs will ask for your "type" of music anyway – or they should – the good ones do ask for a list.
GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY PLANNING!

our dj does a "must play," his choices and "okay to play" and he gave us a list that we can cross off whichever one we don’t like. He ensures that he’ll get our guests up and dancing, so he said he’ll read the crowd (ours is difficult because not only do we have the difference in age..we got the difference in cultures and languages…). We trust him to keep everyone entertained.
