    Hi bees!

Can anyone recommend a good DJ in the Chicagoland area??

    OR

Should I steer clear of anyone??

It's going to be such a big part of the reception, so I want to be sure we're booking someone that is great (but ideally not extremely pricey -- no more than $1,300)

Any and all advice is welcome! TY!!!!!

We're using Spin Productions, they've been really nice and I've gotten nothing but rave reviews on them- I think its about at your price range!

@stiletto:  I've heard of nothing but good things about these two.  We are looking into them both as well.

I would say stay clear of the bar mitzfah djs with all the lighting and props.  For a wedding is just cheesy and their prices are higher.

I've been to a few weddings with Toast & Jam and I wasn't obsessed, BUT you must check out Style Matters! Their DJs are incredibly nice and they really know how to get everybody on the floor. Be sure to listen to the killer promo mixes they have on their website :)

Toast & Jam! They are the coolest, the owner, Mary, is great, and we're using Kristin for our wedding. They run about $1400 for ceremony and reception. We went with Kristin because our friends used her and had rave reviews. If you're a little more indie, hipster, some of the DJs are perfect, hell, our DJ even works at our local coffee shop!

Sounds Abound in Naperville is good and they are priced reasonably.  (DJ- Danny Diebold is awesome, not sure if he's there anymore?).

We are using Toast & Jam's Kate and Rachel.  Another great Chicagoland DJ is Cage & Aquarium!  I don't know about their prices though.

We used DJ-Chicago for our wedding.  They were awesome!! Extremely professional and I would highly recommend them.  Also, they are under $1300. Check them out!

Spinnin' Discs - highly highly highly recommend. They were amazing and we got so many compliments on not only our DJ (Phil) but on the selection of music and how everyone danced all night. I didn't know that a DJ could make such a difference, but they really really did.

I can also recommend Style Matters.  They have amazing reviews and we've had good communication so far!  They are definitely in your price range too :)
