Since you’re in LA, Michael Antonia of theflashdance! http://www.theflashdance.com

5 hours is 2000, plus equiptment rental. He’s amazing though.

Where are you located?? Djs can get expensive. But they also do a lot more work than what poeple think. (FI Djs) I would look on craigs list for you area or look at some local clubs and see if any of the DJs there would be willing to work.

I went with thepros for $695, but I’m not sure if I can recommend them, yet. 🙂 I’ve seen some people posting on CL for $400–that’s as inexpensive as I’ve seen. I think you can reasonably expect to find someone reasonably experienced in the $1,000-1,500 range.

I used Joey Inez of Mixterious Force for my wedding back in May. He was all kinds of awesome: laidback, non-cheesy, and very flexible. When we booked him last year, his rate was $1000 for 6 hours including set-up. Even my husband was impressed and he’s pretty nitpicky about music, plus he wanted to see the dj’s equipment before booking. Joey doesn’t have a website but he does have reviews on Project Wedding.

Tim Coy of Pacific Events.  He’s really reasonable, very relaxed, but helps move the night along, and played all of my “must” songs and kept the crowd going.  http://www.pacific-events.com/

I second Jessebel on Joey Inez of Mixterious Force.  We are getting 8 hours @ $1050 for him for our Sept 2010 wedding.

Good luck!
