Wow, that stinks, but better to learn the vendor is worthless before you booked him. His apathy could have translated to him double-booking and dropping you at a later date, or worse, problems at the wedding itself!
I have my fingers crossed that you get it all worked out! But if something is bound to go wrong with anything... the sooner the better!
Would you be able to get a DJ that isn't on the list approved?
The place is really cool except for the DJ list. We are talking to someone else now but I just hate that I wasted so much time on someone who was not worth it... and better that this happened now before I sent him a non refundable deposit. Ha!

This is a total vent for me.
When I first met this possible DJ, it was at an open house at the location where we are getting married. He was pressuring us to book him. He said that he had another wedding that day but if we booked him now then we were guaranteed to have him as our DJ. When we called him to schedule a meeting he mentioned nothing about "this other wedding" We believe it was a lie to pressure us into booking at that time.
He came highly recommended so even after that we scheduled a meeting. Everything seemed to go well and we were waiting for him to send us a contract, which he said he would have to us the next day. Finally we had not received anything. We contacted him to let him know that we would like to book him and he had booked someone else on our date. He didnt even call us to say if you would like to use me now then you should book. He just booked the higher paying group.
The thing is... because of my out door wedding and city ordances only DJ's on a certain list are allowed to DJ our reception.
So after spending weeks of back and forth and meetings I am starting from zero.
Anyone else have a story like this?
