My friend used Music Man for her wedding a couple years ago. No lights, no macarena, and not at all cheesy--he did play the YMCA and other songs but she was okay with that. He seems to book pretty quickly. We tried to book him about a year before our wedding date and he was already booked for another event!
we used Digital Sounds. He was not corny. We asked him not to play things, and they were not played. We gave him a list of music that we didn't want to hear but were okay to play of requested by quests. No props, no light shows.
We're using MJS Entertainment - Mike Silva is the DJ. We met with him and he was very professional and not into the flashy crazy props. He has a very nice setup and seems very into making sure we enjoy it. We'll see how it goes in a few months!
Artie Fredette is pretty good. He's a bit of a character in person, but he does a good job behind the booth and will be as reserved or boiterous as you ask him to be. He has great taste in music and really gets a feel for the crowd.

my DJ is 4600 from NYC I'm sure he'll travel up there; he sat down with me for 2 whole hours

Anyone know anything about DJ Pianoman? They come highly recommended (and I am using them), but any opinions?
IrishLass: We just signed with Piano Man! I've heard nothing but good things either and we loved the guy we met with.
Another idea is Bobby Dick and the Sundowners, they have a DJ and is also a live band! My FFIL knows them and was able to book them for us! YOu could look at them as well. Good Luck!!

Alright, I know the Capital Region board on Weddingbee isn't super-active but thought I'd try...Anyone got a rec for a NON-CHEESY DJ in the Albany area?? Really need help with this one, I'm scared of ending up with someone who plays the macarena while disco lights are flashing!
