our reception ran late because of an issue with our venue & our dj offered to stay late for us free of charge, which was super nice of him. to show our gratitude, we wrote him a thank you after our honeymoon & sent him a check with a tip (we hadnt originally tipped him the day of). it's been ~ 6 weeks & the check i sent hasnt been cashed... i know some people are slow cashing checks, but i'm worried he didnt get it. what is the proper etiquette for this? should i try to contact him to see if he got it?
Why not? Just call and say that you are still so pleased that he stayed late, and that you sent a cheque/check to show your appreciation by mail, but are concerned he didn't get it. If he didn't get it, then (since it's a cheque) you haven't lost anything. You could then send another one.
