Alternate title: Stupid reason #1 to be late to work
So, yesterday I put the call out for expert lock smiths and most of you smart, lovely ladies told me to be patient and quit getting my undies in a bundle. Well, patience is a virtue that I have not been blessed with so this morning in the midst of getting ready I heard my precious calling to me from the fire safe lock.
Naturally I searched high and low for a bobby pin (why can I never find one when I desperately need one but at other times I find mountains of them?) and got to work. Apparently, some locks are as easy to pick as they look in movies because I got that baby open in about four minutes.
Now you’re thinking, okay, great, so you got it open. Here’s the pics to tide you over until the life lesson comes about:
I had a jolly ole time dancing around the apartment getting dressed while enjoying the look of my precious on my hand. I happened to glance at the clock in the midst of my joy and realised that I had to leave for work in a few minutes. So I put my darling away and then I realised that although it seemed extremely easy to pick the lock OPEN but that was SHEER DUMB LUCK (said in McGonagall voice, obv). Getting the lock to close is another matter entirely. *palmface* I spent a good ten minutes struggling with the thing before I gave up and decided this was my punishment from the universe.
Hopefully he will see it and be all, “Oh my, I forgot to lock the safe after I was gazing at Mandy’s beautiful ring for the millionth time!”
So, ladies, let this be a life lesson in patience for your during the waiting.

Ha ha This is cute.
I doubt he’ll assume you’d have been able to pick the lock, so as long as you play dumb, you should be in the clear. 😉 It’s a beautiful ring.
And AMEN on the bobby pins!

Wait, you were picking the lock to look at the ring that your SO hasn’t given you yet?
Ha. I hope he doesn’t notice that they door is unlocked, but something tells me he will put it together….

Hahaha if I had those skills, this is SO something I would do! Beautiful ring!

Haha– this is great! I would have done that too. And a safe is a much better place than where mine had rested for two weeks (in my boyfriend’s dirty shirt drawer–1) why are dirty clothes in a drawer, 2) why is my ring with smelly shirts?).

@emp04 count your blessings that his dirty shirts go in a drawer instead of on the floor! He probably assumed you wouldn’t go rifling through there.

Ha ha … love the story and what a beautiful ring – now you know this sparkler is awaiting you do you think it’ll make the waiting even harder?
Have you been practicing your suprised face in the mirror?

@MrsEyewannabe We went shopping for it together and he bought it that day–clearly it’s killing me! Love it, I’ll have to practice a surprise face.

great story, i cant help but smile for you and that is a good reason to be a little late.

LOL! I wouldn’t have realized that getting the lock closed would be the problem either.

lmao! if I lived with SO and knew where he was hiding my ring I would sooooo do the same lol. Even though I know exactly what it should look like I still want to see it in person! lol …and try it on lol

Hahaha. You are awesome. I totally would have picked that lock if it were me. Thank god Fiance has no ability to sit on a present of any kind or I would have gone crazy. PS the idea that patience is a virtue has never sat well with me. I saw a meme the other day that said, “Hurry the fuck up should be the virtue.” 🙂

Lol! Love, he’s had my ring since the start of December, and I’ve been plastering ring porn all over this website since then! Hopefully it won’t be too long for us 😉

Oh dear. You’ve ruined the suprise now!!!
