I’m getting married at a fancy and well known pizza place in September and have been going back and forth with the coordinator about pricing structures. For the most part, they are very reasonable, but I am looking at the final quote and the price for labor is astronomical in my opinion. I understand the day of event coordinator will be working much longer than my 5 hour event with planning, set up and take down, but they are charging me 10 hours of bartending for a 5 hour event! What the hell?? I wrote back that I think that is steep and am awaiting the response. What do you all think?

is it two bartenders 5 hours per person?? that would be the only justification…..

Yeah, it just seems like each is 5 hours, totaling 10 hours. Looks right to me. We paid $275 for ours (and we had just one).

To PPs, they are definitely charging 10 hours each for 2 bartenders, because it is 20 hours total. (500 dollars / 25 dollars/hour = 20 hours). Similar for the waiters and servers.
I would query it.

no they defiitely charged you 10 hrs x 2 people x 25 = $500…. I guess bar set up is part of it. I mean there is some prep but 5 extra hours seems like a lot

There isn’t much to set up. The wedding is being held in the patio of the restaurant, which already has a bar! The place has 2 bars. One inside and one outside. How should I got about getting that price adjusted without sounding like a cheap ass (which I am not, but I am getting gouged and I would rather spend the money on more food and alcohol!!)

Not to mention, the event is yes, 5 hours, but we only requested 3 hours of open bar…soo 10 hours seems absurd!!

I wouldn’t argue, but I’d politely inquire if there’s been a math error. Something along the lines of ‘I’m having a hard time making my numbers match up to yours; I see you have 2 bartenders, $25/hour each, 5 hours each; I come up with $250. Could you confirm where our discrepancy is?”
Chances are, it’s a math error and if it’s not, they’ll give you a more detailed breakdown. But no need to argue just yet!
