It should work. I've attached a picture that I sketched up that shows a 60" diameter table with 13" diameter plates spaced for 8 people.
Since 60" is, indeed, the standard for an 8-person table, I'm sure that takes place settings into account. I think you're good!

We're using 60" diameter tables and were planning on seating 8 guests per table. I was hoping to have charger plates (13" diameter) but I don't know if this will make our table look really crowded? Any help is hugely appreciated!
