Alrighty, soooo this weekend I tested out the 'famous' Carrie Underwood low curly side-ponytail. It turned out pretty good actually!

Well yesterday after work I went to get my hair trimmed cause my split ends were getting a little unruly. Welllll apparently they were worse than I thought and he had to cut off at least 1 inch of hair.

When I came home I got the curling iron out and did a really quick curl job, and threw my hair back into the side pony.

It still looks fine I think, BUT the hair isn't as curled of course. In the first pic, I had used curl defining mousse the night before when it was wet, scrunched it, and let it air dry, THEN used the curling iron on it the next morning.

In this instance yesterday, my hair had been straightened in the morning and all I did was use my 1" barrel curling iron on the hair...so it really just ended up wavy instead of curly.

    SO my questions are:

    1. Do you think it looks better curly or wavy?

    2. Do you think, if I did it really curly again, the hair would be too short for this hair style to look right?

    3. Do you think I should get some clip-in human hair extensions like these:http://www.sallybeauty.com/clipin-hair-extensions/EURNXT1,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair16

1st attempt before haircut; used curl mousse on wet hair and let it air dry, then curled with iron

hmmm...i would say wear it curly like in the first picture!  (since its july, it might be best to start with it as curly as possible, so that as the curls drop, it will still have a bit of curl to it at the end of the night?

also, in terms of the extensions, if you do it, it will give your hair a little more body esp since you just cut off an inch...i say go for it!!

maybe experiment with the hair clips and post pics back here so we can tell you what we think!

@Soon2BeMrsCLW3 - well, I don't actually have the extensions, I'd have to go buy them. I'm not really wanting to spend the extra $$ butttt I also don't want my hair to look like poo. lol

I think I like the first photo better, with more curl.  I don't think you need extensions--I think the length is really cute actually!  Great style!!

I don't think you will need the extensions, you still have greta length.

One thing I might suggest...well maybe not suggest but after you got your haircut did they blow out and straighten your hair? if so, this may be the biggest reason why you're not holding the curl as well. If I straighten my hair there is no chance I am able to curl it afterwards.

Regardless, I think you did a great job, I dont think your hair will look bad in the slightest, and to be honest I like your hair down to the side better than the updos you have shown us before, IMH.

    You'll look gorgeous! no worries!

I honestly cannot tell a difference. it needs fullness though-i'd go for clip in extensions. try put-on-pieces-salons sell them.

I like the second picture - your hair looks nice and full with that particular ponytail (in my opinion)!

I think it looks great all curly! If you want more thickness, you could use one of those clip-in extension pieces. Getting actual extensions would be going overboard for this situation, imo! But I think it will look really pretty just all curly!

Which style did you decide to go with?  Curly or wavy?  Extensions or not?

I think the first pic looks the best. I don't think you need extensions, your hair is totally long enough.
