    No! I skipped out on them as well, I would much rather the money be used towards my wedding.

    Is your wedding local?  I really don’t think save the dates are necessary unless you’re doing a wedding where many people need to travel or it’s on a popular holiday weekend.  Ten years ago, nobody did save the dates, and In My Humble Opinion, they are another thing we’ve been convinced we have to spend money on by the wedding industry!  Laughing I sent them because my wedding is a destination wedding but would not have otherwise.

    Nah, I’m skipping them. Everyone who is getting invited already knows when the wedding is. The out of towners have mostly already booked hotels. They will be fine without an STD reminding them of what they already know.

    You don’t need to do Save the Dates, but 5 months in advance is way too early to send invitations.
