House of Brides is a nightmare! Do not do business with them! I ordered a handbag for my wedding from these people. Two weeks later when it still had not shipped, I contacted the company only to discover that they no longer sold this item, leaving me to have to scramble to find another purse. There was no communication from House of Brides notifying me of the issue before I called them. Natrually I asked for a refund.
After returning home from my honeymoon … this was weeks later … I found they still had not credited my account. I called once again and was told that returning my money could take up to 30 days! Didn’t matter that this issue was not my fault. Didn’t matter that they had already kept my money for two weeks after I placed my order without notifying me they could not fill it. I have now called them three times trying to get a response, and just today, as their bizarre 30-day refund deadline approaches, they are now telling me they require 30 “business days.”
I should also mention that the customer service representatives will not give me any update as to the status of my refund when I call, they only say “it takes up to 30 days for a refund.” They have no explanation as to why it takes so long for a refund and my attempts to speak to a manager have gone unanswered.
House of Brides is a dishonest company. You should avoid doing any sort of business with them at all costs!

That’s a pretty normal time to process a refund…and the policy you agreed to when you made the transaction.
It’s a freaking purse.

Moraz: It doesn’t matter if it’s a purse or a gown, she wanted a refund. No need to get nasty. Sheesh! Mean girl much?

ToppyAidan: Creating an account for the sole purpose of bashing a business that’s issuing a refund (may not be quick, but it’s not unusual) with the histrionics of calling it a nightmare, is a bit much.

Moraz: Perhaps it was a bit silly of her to sit and create an account on a site, but it was also a warning. And it sounds like they’re changing their policies as they please with her.
Minder01: And honestly 30 business days?? That’s ridiculous for a return. I’m going to take a guess they aren’t BBB accredited.

This actually isn’t uncommon with them. If you look at a lot their Yelp reviews there are many girls that have had the same issues. A lot of them had to deal with this regarding their gown orders though. I went there with my best friend to look at wedding dresses and the consultant was trying to juggle 3 different appointments when we were there and for some reason didn’t bother to listen to what my friend was asking for style wise and pulled what she thought would look good but ended up looking like a hot mess. And the girls at the front desk were very rude.
They have quite the reputation.

Minder01: from their own website
Refunds may take up to 30 business days for processing.
So it seems, if you had bothered to read their website before ordering, that you should have been aware of their stated refund policy.
It really annoys me when people bad mouth a company when they are doing exactly what they stated they would by their own policies/website.

If they don’t follow through with the refund call your bank or credit card company. There are several ways that they can assist in these type of situations. I manage a bank and we handle these types of claims all of the time. Good luck!

I work in customer service. 30 days is not unusual for a refund. Once a refund has been issued by a company, it is no longer under their control. They do not and cannot control how fast the refund is issued into your account. If you’re going to be calling anybody, it should be your bank or credit card company to trace the refund, not the customer service representatives who cannot affect your refund in any way. The only thing that they may be able to do is give you a transaction ID for the refund to make it easier for you to trace, and they will only have that available if the system that holds their orders gives them when a refund is issued, and not all systems have this feature.

Some of these comments are Crazy ! Yes 30 days is too long if you brought a product that they simply did not have…. Why are they advertising stuff for sale they do not have in stock…. Maybe if the original poster brought the item had it shipped to her decided she did to like it 30 days would be fine for her to get a refund as it is her fault for wanting to return it…. the company sold her an item they did Not have … And good customer service would say she should be refunded promptly as they stuffed up… Sheesh I would be a bit annoyed… Imagine if she was was on such a tight budget that she needed the refund urgently to allow her to buy another.

Leaving the refund policy debate aside, it’s a very poor business that doesn’t contact the customer asap and advise them that what they’ve ordered is not available. That would make me pretty mad.
