Today, I was woken up to beautifully warm weather. FI left the house early, as usual, and opened our bedroom windows. The sheers blew in the breeze and the birdies were chirpping…I was even wearing a new blush pink silk Oscar delaRenta nightie… I felt like a coffee commerical. Then, I opened my eyes to find the biggest, nastiest, FASTEST spider on my ceiling. MF-er!
I screamed, I ran, I cursed, I cried, I had a mini break down. I got the vacuum cleaner and sucked it up eventually…(along with the power cord to my laptop–CRAP, it’s all chewed up and I have to buy a new one… Stupid spider cost me big money.)
This happened 10 hours ago and I was just starting to forget about it (even though the vacuum is still in the bedroom because ewwww I’m not touching that again!)
Sure enough while making dinner, I spot the big momma of the spider I saw this morning. It sprinted across the wall…. Again, craziness on my part ensued. My weapon of choice was huge can of Aquanet hairspray this time. Worked like a charm.
i HATE spiders. I hate all insects. Anyone else see a spider today?

…I am scared to death of insects. I make FI take care of them.
We have roaches in my office building. ROACHES. My co-workers like to make fun of me, because when I see one, I completely lose it. I mean, like really unprofessional, yelping, jumping, whining, borderline tears.

my FH tries to save the insects and put them outside. i’m not as forgiving and just flush them down the toilet. eeeww they’re so gross! Although in some cultures seeing a spider means news is coming.

@Blueshoes–I am the same way. Tears just automatically start falling. I can’t help it. I know it’s irrational but I cannot seem to stop. Roaches are TERRRRRIBLE. I feel for you. On our second date, we went to Hemmingways (hehe, fellow Pgh-er!) and I saw a roach on the sidewalk outside 7/11 as we were walking home. I cried so badly and refused to walk any further….darling FI carried me more than half a mile home…

I can’t believe you girls flush them! Aren’t you afraid to put your behind on the toilet then!?!? I would be! The less clothing you wear around an insect, the worse it is. Ever see a bug in the shower? You feel so much more vulnerable! Every time I see a bug, I want to put on my ski suit.

lol. My FI is the one that can’t stand bugs. I always have to come rescue him. Once I came home from school and found him sitting on the bed looking terrified because he saw a centipede crawl under it and he was afraid to step off the bed! Thankfully he hadn’t been there too long.

I hate insects. I freak out if I see any. Only insects that might be exempt from my rule are butterflies and lady bugs. Everything else creeps (sp?) me out.

LOL @ Virginia… too funny! You must have known he was the one… carrying you through Oakland on your second date!

No, but I saw two roaches, which I hate WAY more than spiders.

@Michelle—HAHHA that made me laugh–I do that too!
@Blue, I DID know he was the one when we carried me through Oakland. It’s one of my favorite memories with him…
@Mouse–you saw 2 roaches TODAY?! where????

Ah! I hate spiders. So, so much. I usually call R to kill them.
So glad we finally were able to open the windows this week, but we did get one spider so far. Here, we have these weird many-legged bugs that are different from anything I’ve ever seen. Some mutant city thing. Blech. Last year one crawled out of the drain while I was taking a shower. I flipped shit!

This made me laugh! I’m not a bug killer but I’m not opposed. What I would like to know is if the spider was on the ceiling how did the cord to your laptop get caught in the kerfuffle? lol
