I just wondered if you get asked and if you do, how you respond?

I never get asked, but if I was I'd just tell them.

I've only been asked by 2 people, SIL and CIL and I told them.  Usually I think it's sort of rude to ask, but SIL and I had been talking rings and getting engaged and all the details that go along with it and we're totally open about it.  And CIL asked probably cause it was fittingn for the situation.  I had my ring on the table when putting on sunblock and MIL goes "look at how TINY that ring is!!!"  (She meant the ring size, 4.5) and I started poking fun at my husband telling him "see!! your mom said its small!!" and so CIL asked how big it was.

Only once in real life, and it was by my best friend, so I didn't mind. If a random person asked me, I'd be a little annoyed, though.

I have been asked a few times before, I just tell them.

ETA: Just to explain further - it doesn't offend me because my ring is out in public for anyone to see.  Anyone who knows anything about diamonds could tell on their own how big it is.  It's not like it's secret information.  So I figure if they ask, it's because they are curious and don't know much about diamonds.

Asking how much it costs is something different, that's more personal information.

yeah, I usually just say around a carat. I do get kind of bashful when people make a giant deal out of my ring though, it feels so awkward.

I've had a few, but its only been by people who are asking for a good reason, like they've been looking at rings and want to compare a real life example. Also, isn't a solitaire, but 9 separate diamonds so sometimes people want to know what the total weight is because of the way its spread out.  I don't mind people asking at all about the weight of the diamonds.  I do, however, mind people asking what it cost.  Yes, I'm  the bee who got her ring for 97% off, but people IRL who ask are asking out of curiosity about out finances so they suck :P

I don't think I've had anyone ask.  Maybe a coworker did, but we were discussing diamonds, and he was telling me about the ring he was having made for his gf/fi.

Not on size, but one person said (in a resturant around tons of people) "Is that real?" I was just like... ummm... yeah. It was really awkward.

Everybody around me ask. I Feel alittle bit annoying sometime. I don't know why it matters to them. And hell, some of them even ask how much it is, I feel so uncomfortable about that. Why would ppl like asking about price?

Yes, but normally by other almost-engaged people. Like my MOH is in the "waiting stage" and was like, "I want one around your size. What size is it anyway? If you don't mind me asking?" So I didn't find that rude at all and told her obviously.

Only by a friend of mine who is trying to buy a ring for his GF who has the same size fingers. He was pricing things out and wanted to know the ct size. I didn't have a problem with that. I think the only time I would have an issue would be if someone were to say something about my ring's diamonds with disdain.

I've only been asked three times that I can think of and it was all by people I am very close to, so I told them.  I personally think it's a little rude to ask but oh well.

I havent been asked I have been told its huge (it's a little over half .56 center and a little under half on the band = a little under 1 carat) or gorgeous. I just say thanks but if I were asked I would tell them.

Only by a friend, admittedly I found it awkward and rude. I have had people make a big deal about how big it is and I felt like they were fishing for the number of carats, but I don't play along and I'd never offer the info.

I get asked all of the time about my ring. The size, where I bought it, and how much. I think because it's unique. At first I was put off by this, but after awhile I just realized it was usually girls who were close to getting engaged asking, and it made it easier to swallow.

I have asked people who I am close to, because I am beginning to look at stones w/SO and it's interesting to see them up close and in person, rather than browsing online. I wouldn't ever ask a stranger, and I wouldn't ask how much it cost.

Once, but it was my boss who was ring-shopping for his now FI, and he was showing off his newfound diamong knowledge by guessing the size to see if he was right. He was, and it was the same size he got for his FI, so I thought it was kinda funny he was so excited about knowing.

No one has ever asked me, but I'd be happy to tell them if they did!  If we weren't close friends, I might think it was a tad weird, though.

I have never been asked this by anybody that wasn't actively shopping for their own ring.  I'm pretty open with that kind of stuff though, so I'd probably just tell them.

I've asked before - but it was a friend and I really liked her ring. I even said to my SO - see this is perfect.

OMG I hope she didn't think it was rude :S

I've been asked by friends, co-workers and my patients and I tell them. Strangers haven't come up and asked me about my ring. That would be weird. =S

I get asked often how big it is.  When I get asked how much it cost, I just tell them where it is from and I do not know how much he spent.

When I get asked in real life, it generally makes me uncomfortable. my solitaire is larger then what most people have in my area, so the question of "how big is that thing?" Is usually dripping with distain. However, when im asked on the bee, im not uncomfortable at all answering. I know you guys are just generally curious.

My mom, my SIL and a good friend asked. No one else.

My mom and friend can get away with it, SIL was a different story. Probably because of the way she asked and other issues I have with her.

No one else has ever asked its actual size.

I've had ppl ask, and I tell them. I find it a little uncomfartable though. I had two people I work with make negative comments about the size (both men) one said-Jesus, were paying you to much!" and the other said "dont you think that's a little big?" Both times I said FI picked it out and I think it's perfect.... the women at work love it though!

Ive never had anyone ask but it isnt a solitair it has over 50 smaller stones. I constantly get completements and everyone grabs my hand to look at it close. It shines lots and is not at all traditional so people are just very curious. The only thing people ask me is weather Im going to add a band to it (which I will not I will just move it to the next hand). Im actually proud at how little it cost so I will easily tell people that I love the ring and much prefer it over a 20 000$ ring and it was only 1200$ so I have no problem people asking all sorts of things. I actually have no clue to the number of carrats and I dont think it really matters at all.
