I usually get excited for family/friends even if it’s not necessarily my taste, but not strangers.  Maybe since your ring is something unique for your area thats why they make a big deal out of it.  I agree though that it’s a girl thing to get excited about sparklies.  I would just take it as a compliment, even though I’d probably get a little embarassed too.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I always love when people comment on my ring ๐Ÿ™‚ But I’ve only had it for about 5 months so maybe its still just new to me? I do really hate when people ask how he proposed. If I can give a short version “sunset on the beach in mexico” its fine but for people who want details it makes me very uncomfortable. First of all, it seems almost too good to be true and I worry that people will think that I’m embellishing. Second, its all very personal to me and I like keeping it a little closer to the vest.

I have had the stranger comments at times.  I do have a very beautiful ring (if I do say so myself!) and I guess it is pretty sparkley so it catches the eye.  The funny thing is that I never really noticed other peoples rings before I was engaged.  I would have never noticed a strangers ring…unless it had a crazy, huge rock on it!  I don’t mind when people notice and compliment my ring.  It is nice to be reminded that it is there sometimes….like, “oh yeah, I do have a beautiful ring on my finger and wonderful many who picked it for me.”  It does catch me off guard sometimes.

note: i just went and looked at your profile to see your ring and ummmm DUH GIRL! lol. You have a massive rock on your finger. ๐Ÿ™‚ Your ring is not just an unusual shape its big and beautiful… so take pride in the compliments! Then go home and kiss your FI for buying you an amazing ring!

I love my ring, and really appreciate it when others, even strangers, comment.  My FI spent a ton of time finding the perfect diamond, so I see comments as compliments.  The only thing that has caught me off guard is when people ask about the carat size.  It’s mostly from people who aren’t engaged, so I’m sure they don’t mean to be rude, but it’s still a very awkward question. I also hate when people touch it, but that’s a whole other story!

My ring is smallish but people still fuss over it, ask me dates, who picked it out, how long have I been engaged… I wouldn’t be too embarrassed. The people who make  obnoxious scenes over engagement rings are probably nosey, and do it to everyone . They’ll probably also ask to see the inside of your house, and know all of the neighborhood biznazz that no one else cares about.

also – I like when people ask about the ring. It’s kind of code for people that wouldn’t mind you talking about the wedding or your SO, ya know? It’s weird just talking wedding with people if they’re not interested. but someone that loves on your ring? they would like to hear about it! Plus my dh and I picked it out together and it’s the prettiest thing I own!
