I don’t think this is as popular as it used to be. I know none of the recently married people in my social circle have had theirs cars decorated considering the fact that most of the time the paint job tends to get damaged or people ruin upholstery by putting deer urine under the seats (yay, Alabama)… Or opened condoms everywhere, let’s not forget those…
I was just wondering if this was still a thing anymore, and if it’s gotten any “classier” than it used to be.

A lot of people in the UK tend to hire expensive cars, vintage cars or use taxis as their getaway car, so noone decorates thecar because it is only hired. However, 2 years ago a friend used their Ford KA as a getaway car an because it was actually theirs, friends used silly string, fake snow spray for windows to write their names, and tin cans to trail.
I think it’s not really a thing as much now. In the UK the only way of decorating a hired car that I have seen is a ribbon like this:

@emmrr3: I didn’t think it was a thing in the UK as much as it was here. Some cans, fake snow and silly string would be one thing, but people around here aren’t that considerate when it comes to doing it around here. I’ve seen more cars than I’d like to count being damaged because of the decorating some of their friends did.

@SouthernGirl: Blimey. I would certainly be annoyed if my car was damaged!

My husband was pretty upset that his brothers didn’t do that to the truck when we all parked at the hotel.
I think it’s cute.

I haven’t seen anyone do it in years. I don’t care whether or not it’s “classy’…. I hope someone does it for us!
One of my favorite moments is when Sally Field tells Julia Roberts in “Steel Magnolias” that the car is decorated in, ahem, phallic shaped balloons and whatnot. Balloons, streamers, clanging cans, Just Married signs… I want it all!

@Rubbs: I’m not sure if anyone will end up doing ours either. I will punch anyone though if deer pee ends up in my car though.
@panda247: I wasn’t saying the act itself wasn’t classy. I’m hoping for just married signs and balloons or something like that, I just don’t want a damaged car after all is said and done.

Probably not. Any wedding I’ve been to, the bride and groom were drinking and had a limo take them home. That’s what we will be doing also, so it’s not like a car is just sitting around waited to be decorated.

I plan on doing something like this:
I think it’s very cute and tasteful and nothing will be damaged or destroyed. I actually really love the idea! As long as its not tacky and over done.

@SouthernGirl: I loved the idea! My sister and her friend wrote “Just Married” on our back window with hearts and our names on the back side windows with those pens that wash away. We also made a long line of different colored streamers that they hung from inside the trunk so that it would hang out the back.
It looked awesome. Too bad I don’t have a picture 🙁 But it will be on our video.

I think that something like this is really cute & modern!

I haven’t seen it happen too much at the weddings I’ve been to lately. If anyone decorates my car, I hope it’s just a classy sign and some streamers…no deer pee please!

At the wedding I was in last weekend the car was decorated… it was pretty, uh, interesting.
Our getaway car was a nice, classic car…so no, no decorations. However, when we switched back into DH’s truck it had been decorated with balloons, some streamers, and said “Just Married.”

Ours was decorated with toilet paper and window paint. I would have been okay with it, but it wasn’t done nicely and it was raining and just looked like crap because the paint was all runny and the toilet paper gooped up. We still have paint remnents on our car.
Of course it was my younger brother who was the main culprit of this, which sucks for him because I’m almost certain he will be engaged soon and we will have some fun with it.
