Honestly, I don’t have credit card debt. I have 2 jobs (1 is basically my play money, which is also paying for 95% of this). I have a professional position and a blue collar one. I have because I have always lived within my means. I just don’t flaunt what I have. And people are worried about how much I am spending. His sister who is a bridesmaid gets the dress bought by me ($30.00) at Ross and shipped to her via UPS and with a return airbill to send back in case it didn’t fit. She finds the same thing in a larger size online at a closeout and was going to buy it. She is in the middle of a nasty divorce (partly due to her lousy debt management) and wanted to pay for the dress “because she knew how expensive weddings can be”. It’s $54 bucks . No big deal. I drop that going to lunch. I bought the dresses because they are gorgeous, not because they are cheap. Definately not stock bridesmaid dresses.(I’ll post pix later.) We don’t have a lot of local resources here. My MOH freaks out because I bought stuff at Hobby Lobby at 50% off. One of whch is the plateau round cake stand. I told her I had wanted to make a simple 3-tier diamond white fondant cake in a square shape. She thinks its the money and says that she doesn’t want me to buy all this stuff unnecessarily, her aunt is a wedding cake designer and if need be, she’ll do the cake as a wedding present. She doesn’t want me to stress. I’m not cheap, but I do have a blackbelt in shopping and I’m a big control freak. We start talking flowers and she thinks that I should do all silks but my bouquet. and wants the bridesmaids to carry the flower balls. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that was for her daughter the flower girl. Again with the money. What people don’t realize is that to get the look I want it costs as much in silks as it does buying them online direct fresh. Anybody know how to be diplomatic? Because at this point my gray is showing…..And yes I can “afford” to do my roots….
