We'll have our reader there--she's as much a part of the big day as any bridesmaid!
@oracle: i was a reader and the bride wanted me there....it helped cuz that way i knew at what point in the ceremony i'd be reading and i knew what i was reading instead of goin in there blind....lol
Yes you can have them there, just so they feel comfortable about where to stand during the reading. You can always just tell them on the day of the wedding too if they can't attend the rehearsal. Be sure to also tell them to sit on the aisle (or the other end of the row or the front row, if you have swagging across the seats). But yes, they usually are invited to the rehearsal and dinner.
I've been to one rehearsal where the reader was invited and another one where she wasn't. My reader is going to be invited to my rehearsal, but mainly because the reader is my brother!
One of our readers was able to make it while the second could not (she was traveling to our destination wedding). Our DOC took her aside before the ceremony to provide her with her cue. They are part of the ceremony so I never thought twice about having them attend the rehearsal.

Is it appropriate to invite a reader to the rehearsal (so they know where to sit/stand, etc)?
Or is it more for the bridal party, etc?
